New Mexico Council gets sneak peek at namesake sub's construction

Article Abstract:

The New Mexico Council's USS New Mexico Committee will have a first look at the Virginia-class submarine on which they have worked for five years in early July 2005. The new submarine is named after their home state and in honor of the submarine's naming, the New Mexico State Legislature passed a Senate Joint Memorial 42 calling for continuing support of the New Mexico by the state throughout construction and commissioning.

Scholarship fund honors blue wolves squadron aviators

Article Abstract:

Oakland Council and crew members from the aircraft carrier John C. Stennis, former Blue Wolves Squadron members have jointly helped raise more than $60,000 for a scholarship fund for the children of four Sea Control Squadron 35 aviators killed in a plane crash new Iwa Jima. The Bay Area Navy Leaguers cheered on the Navy Academy at the Emerald Bowl game to bring the battleship Iowa to San Francisco.

Great Lakes Sea Cadets take part in Cousteau's 'Ocean Adventures'

Article Abstract:

An upcoming Public Broadcasting System television series 'Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Adventures' will feature a group of US Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) cadets from the Great Lakes, Michigan Division. The viewers will be able to see the rarely visited underwater parks that constitute the National Marine Sanctuary System.
