Huon class enters the hunt

Article Abstract:

ADI Ltd, the prime contractor for the Huon-class Minehunter Coastal ship of the Royal Australian Navy, has been awarded the National Engineering Award in Nov 1999. The company was honored for its achievement in building the A$1.2-billion ($766 million) minehunter in a manner that met defense industry expectations. ADI, which is more than 80% finished with the ship's construction, is expected to deliver all six orders by end of 2002.

CEA Technologies delivers Huon-class comms

Article Abstract:

CEA Technologies has delivered an advanced Integrated Ship Communications System (ISCS) to the Royal Australian Navy. The ISCS system, which also includes the antennas, voice terminals, speakers, data bus and the control system, will be installed in the navy's Huon class minehunters. The communication system, which combines 23 antenna functions into six combined antenna groups, can be operated by a lone operator using a communications management terminal.

New Zealand selects Tenix to fashion new fleet

Australia's Tenix Defense Pty Ltd is selected as preferred tenderer for New Zealand's NZ$500 million Project Protector fleet replacement program. This program is designed to provide the Royal New Zealand Navy and civilian agencies with Multi-RoleVessel capable of undertaking tasks such as tactical sealift and disaster relief in the Pacific, to meet both inshore and offshore requirements.
