Passing through turbulence

Article Abstract:

The South African National Defence Force's (SANDF) effort to become a true representative of the South African people is being undermined by corporate headhunting into the SANDF's ranks. Many of its young officers are being lured to worked for industry by higher salary and better working conditions. The SANDF intends to reduce its standing army by 70,000 troops through retirements, resignations and other means of attrition. This is being resorted to after it lost some of its most competent officers through its voluntary retirement program.
