Article Abstract:

Air Force critics in Congress who argue that the service has failed to make a strong effort to establish a dominant physical presence in space ought to take a closer look at existing Air Force programs. They would discover that the service has considerably progressed in the development of systems that would increase its access to orbit and broaden the range of tasks it can perform in space. The Air Force is also generating doctrine and technologies for the eventual use of weapons in space. The service ought to be commended by its critics for its efforts to integrate rather than separate air power and space power in the face of a severely constrained budget.

The bomber roadmap

Article Abstract:

The Air Force's revised strategic plan regarding its bomber fleet features a detailed set of measures to upgrade existing aircraft with new precision weapons, more reliable parts and new communications equipment that will improve combat power and reliability. The plan does not include a definitive new bomber development/construction program. Air Force officials believe that the service will be able to keep its existing fleet of B-1, B-2 and B-52 bombers operationally relevant and affordable until 2037. This assumes that regular upgrades are conducted and no significant aircraft losses occur due to accidents or war.

Article Abstract:

Air Mobility Command (AMC) is stressing concerns and importance of the mobility force, highlighting the significance of air lifts in military operations, particularly in the 1991 Gulf War. In line with the need for the development of new airlifts, the Global Air Traffic Management has been given add-on money to update Air Force cargo and tanker aircraft to be compliant with new international avionics standards. AMC, however, stresses that concerns of the mobility force is not only on the hardware aspect of the force but also on the personnel, particularly issues of military pay and health system.
