Professionalism and new equipment

Article Abstract:

The reform of the Romanian armed forces has, among its aims, the establishment of a new procurement system and the necessary support structure that will ensure procedural interoperability with the NATO system. The new procurement system includes the appropriate regulations and procedures to identify and establish priorities with regards to the allocation and use of resources. So far, the Supreme National Defense Council has approved 19 key procurement programs, including the MiG-21 Lancer fighter and the MAGIC-2 air-to-air missile.

Article Abstract:

Southeast Asian countries have led purchasers of weapons in the international arms market by July 1997 that is attributed to robust economic growth sustained for over ten years. Majority of the regional countries saw boosts in their economics provide both the rationale for healthy defense budgets and the capability to sustain them. Moreover, a decrease of defense spending on a worldwide scale provided the remaining major spenders a substantial leverage compared with the foreign manufacturers.

Equipping the Royal Netherlands Navy

Article Abstract:

The Directorate for Materiel is tasked with materiel assets procurement and maintenance for the Royal Netherlands Navy. These assets include range from surface shi[s and submarines to naval helicopters and maritime patrol airctrafts, vehicles and weapons for the Marines to dockyards and schools for shore establisments. The current status of major procurement projects are presented.
