Remedying an unfortunate lapse of memory

Article Abstract:

The new Pentagon directive of restoring and maintaining order in the occupied territory, which has long lost its priority than the combat operations, maintains that the combat operations should be given secondary importance and maintenance of law and order. The Pentagon considers the directives to be needed as the need testifies only too clearly to the extent to which half a century of limited was has clouded military and political memories on the war to fight and win a war requiring the invasion of hostile nation.

New evidence of a persisting military dilemma

Article Abstract:

Senior military officers involved in the planning and conduct of war in Iraq are beginning to vent publicly about the decision making process and unsurprisingly, all are retired. The most recent discharge is by Marine Corps Lt. Gen. (Retired) Greg Newbold, Joint Chiefs of Staff director of operations from 2000 to 2002.

Revitalizing the artillery - close combat relationship

Article Abstract:

The Field Artillery has been accused of shifting its emphasis from close support, as its responsibilities have increased. The time has come for reevaluation of responsibilities, with renewed emphasis on support for close support maneuvers.
