Resurrection: The Iraqi Navy is making a comeback as a viable force in the Persian Gulf

Article Abstract:

The new Iraqi Navy, established in the summer of 2003, is expanding and growing in capability under the guidance of 20 American, British and Polish advisors co-located at Umm Qasr. In 2005, the Navy gained qualified independence from its Western handlers, as it assumed all responsibility of command and control in routine operations.

Collaboration is key to saving whales, supporting our sailors

Article Abstract:

The activities of US Navy, its sonar arrays that were potholed against the whales had hazardous impact on marine mammals. Hence, it is crucial for the Navy to train in coastal waters to protect its sailors from undersea ambush, and so the government needs to work in collaboration with the Navy to protect whales, and sailors.

The US Navy Seabees in Iraq are trying to find ways to get new building up and runways repaired as they are facing a lack of trucks and thin concrete. The Navy's eight-battalion active-duty construction force has maintained one or two battalions in Iraq since the invasion in early 2003.
