Article Abstract:

The British Royal Navy will conduct ship acquisition programs to enhance its defense capability. The planned acquisitions include a contract awarded to British Aerospace SEMA for ten utility landing craft, 12 Horizon anti-air warfare frigates and three Astute-class nuclear-powered attack submarines. However, the number of Boxer-class frigates will be cut to three vessels and the Navy will sell two of its Island-class offshore patrol vessels. Moreover, the ballistic submarine force will lose two of its vessels.
