SAS 2000 stresses innovative acquisition approaches

Article Abstract:

The Navy League's 2000 Sea-Air-Space Exposition to be held at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC, from Apr 18-20, 2000 will showcase the latest in navy/nilitary technology, platforms and combat systems. Newport News Shipbuilding will launch its Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and display its ship-overhaul work while Litton Data Systems will introduce its advanced ship integrated combat system. Other exhibitors include DRS Technologies, Textron Marine and Land Systems and Eaton Navy Controls.

Integrated combat systems

Article Abstract:

The various types of integrated combat systems that are used by the United States defense services are described. The Aegis combat system, ships and aircrafts equipped with cooperative engagement capability (CEC), Naval surface fire support program and the air area defense commander (AADC) are some of the integrated combat systems that are being developed and have been implemented in the defense services.
