Saudi military electronics company expands ties, horizons

Article Abstract:

Advanced Electronics Company (AEC) proceeds with its efforts to expand its connections with European and US defense contractors. The military electronics firm based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which was originally founded by Boeing under offset terms for the Saudi AWACS program, recently secured a new agreement for local production of the Racal Man-Portable Surveillance and Target Acquisition Radar (MSTAR) system. AEC is already working on cooperative ventures for EW equipment and subsystems with Tracor, specifically to explore local production of expendables and dispensers, and with Northrop Grumman, particuraly for the local production of F-15 suite components.

The English language is filled with words and phrases that are derived from naval history. 'Fly by night', 'First rate', 'Feeling blue', are some of the well-known phrases derived from naval terminology, listed with their nautical derivations.
