Sensors and C3 systems for coastal defense

Article Abstract:

Television camera or any generic radar antenna can help in coastal surveillance, as the threats like terrorism, piracy, smuggling, trafficking, illegal immigration and poaching in coastal waters are very high. Automatic identification system, high mobility, underwater sensors, integrated C2 systems and patrol crafts are some of the specific assets that are required to provide adequate performance.

Bounding the global war on terrorism

Article Abstract:

The nature and parameters of the term eglobal war on terrorismE is examined from three vantage points namely threat population, the scope and feasibility of its objectives and its political, fiscal, and military sustainability. The terms incomplete characterization as a war, and the absence of an agreed-upon definition of terrorism is addressed.

MCMVs revisited: Technologies, markets and programmes

Article Abstract:

The Mine Countermeasure Vessels (MCMVs), which were specifically used to operate within minefields in most dangerous positions in the early 80s to mid 90s, were recalled into the market by the navies worldwide. Countries like Australia, China, Finland, Greece, Italy, Japan, and South Korea are planning major overhauls and upgradation of MCMVs.
