MK45 Gun Mount, MK75 76mm/, 82-Caliber Gun Mount, MK38 25 mm Machine Gun System, MK15 Phalanx Close-in Weapon System, M2 .50-Caliber Machine Gun are the naval guns used in the U.S. Navy. Details of these guns, its significance, its operational capabilities and its unique features are given.

A renewed commitment to core capabilities; LPD 17: a ship built for warfighters

Article Abstract:

The terrorist attacks on the US have led to a rethinking of conventional military forces and equipment, and an emphais on new concepts. One such concept is the LPF 17 ship being built for the Navy, a ship that is more flexible and adaptable. Design details are discussed.

The Monte Carlo approach to mine warfare

Article Abstract:

The US Navy's Coastal Systems Station developed the Naval Mine Warfare Simulation system to simulate mine-countermeasures operations during fleet battle experiments. The capabilities of the system are discussed.
