Cantieri Navali Italiani SpA, better known as Fincantieri, is ebullient about its future prospects despite reporting a loss of 299 billion lira in FY 1998. Fincantieri CEO Corrado Antonini noted that the 1998 figure represents the shipbuilder's first actual financial turnaround after five years of steady growth and the production of more than 2,000 vessels for both the Italian Navy and other, commercial enterprises.

Fincantieri targets market flotation

The state-owned Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri is planning to start an initial public offering (IPO) and is looking to enter the stock market in early 2006. Fincantieri builds and renovates warships for the Italian Navy and other naval forces around the world and also has significant cruise-ship and merchant-vessel interests.

DCN anticipates dip in full-year operating profits

A full year operating profit of EUR192 million in 2006, anticipating a 13.5 per cent dip from fiscal year 2005 is indicated by the French shipbuilder and support services provider DCN. On 4 October 2006, DCN reconfirmed its outlook while confirming the figures for the first half of 2006.
