Shack takes a lickin

Article Abstract:

Kontek Industries showcased their bulletproof, 37,000-pound guard shack, at the 2005 Armed Forces Journal Shoot-out at Blackwater. The guard shack withstood assaults by a wide range of powerful bullets and its overall performance validated the protective ability of the shack, even though that protection came with a considerable weight penalty.

Closing the net: C4ISR assets aid antidrug operations

The U.S. Coast Guard's technology upgrades under the deepwater recapitalization program are responsible for many successful drug seizures in 2004. The operational forces are endorsing the command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) equipment that were bought under the $17 billion project.

Zeroing in: DHS hunting for new pistols

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) personnel are working on to procure a family of weapons for its law enforcement personnel, which also include the Coast Guard. The department wants a full-size, compact and subcompact pistols with interchangeable parts and similar operating characteristics, from a single manufacturer.
