Tanker checkmate: Why Boeing will win the aerial refueler contest

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Air Force issued a draft request for proposal for aerial refueler, and later indicated that the specifications will be revised to focus on the tanker, not transport capabilities, which favors the Boeing offering. Apparently, the winner of the competition will be based more on politics than on technical considerations, which clearly indicates Boeing.

When the fortress went down

Article Abstract:

The 1935 crash of Boeing's sleek, four-engine bomber, which was named as flying fortress or Model 299, set back the American airpower for years. The design was faultless but the lack of checklist doomed the airplane and some of the crew. Hence, Boeing lost its contract with the U.S. Air force and the B-17 faced a five-year setback.
