Article Abstract:

Critical infrastructure that includes everything from bridges to the information highway and even power plants and other crucial assets continue to remain vulnerable to terrorists post September 11, 2001. Creating a coordinated, smooth functioning system to protect such infrastructure is one of the most difficult challenges facing the Department of Homeland Security.

Osama bin Laden: A 'worthy enemy'

Article Abstract:

America is engaged in a war of survival against enemy which is led and personified by Osama bin Laden making America's enemy more complicated and more simple than is recognized. Bin Laden and those he leads have presented a struggle that cannot be avoided, a conflict in which choices are not between war and peace, but between war and endless war.

Facing a new reality

Article Abstract:

The nontraditional threats have changed the Pentagon's weapons priorities in order to respond to the realities of the global war on terrorism. The military services of the United States are gearing up for the 2005 Quadrennial Defense Review, which would set the Pentagon's policy and modernization agenda for the next four years.
