Thailand tackles border security

Article Abstract:

The northern territory of Thailand which borders Myanmar has become a critical concern of the Thai military in terms of national security because it is where massive illegal drugs trafficking is being conducted. The insurgent group United Wa State Army in MYanmar is manufacturing highly addictive methamphetamine pills for the Thai market. As a result, the impact of methamphetamine abuse in Thai society has reached crisis proportions since 1997.

Thailand tackles organised crime

Article Abstract:

Officials in Tahiland have become increasingly concerned about the migration of international organized crime to the country. It is thought that criminal organizations from Pakistan, Russia, Japan, Colombia, and other countries have been drawn to Thailand.

Thailand cracks down on arms for Aceh

Article Abstract:

The growing insurgency in Aceh has led Indonesia to ask for, and receive, cooperation from Thailand in controlling the shipments of arms to that area. The number of fishing vessels, and small islands, near Aceh make control difficult.
