Article Abstract:

US Army Chief of Staff Eric Shinseki's New Army Vision calls for the deployment of a combat brigade for war or peacekeeping purposes with 96 hours, within 120 hours for a division, and within 30 days for five divisions. Shinseki's plan also calls for the implementation of a service- wide fail-safe/zero defect electronically-driven single-system that can identify, locate and distribute items quickly to soldiers on the battlefield.

US defence spending & the uncertain future

The defence equipment budget request of the US would be scrutinized by the US Democratic Party and by moderate Republican Party legislators. They are loyal to their concepts regarding fiscal responsibility, which means that some equipment programmes could be trimmed back and some terminated.
