The B-2 and beyond

Article Abstract:

The Panel to Review Long Range Airpower has recommended that all money should be used for upgrades to improve the deployability, survivability and maintainability of the existing fleet of B-2 bombers. The panel was commissioned to study whether the $331 million allocated for the B-2 program should be spent on more low-rate production, or used on improvements to the baseline program. The panel recommended that upgrades should be allowed to enable the aircraft to reach its full potential. One of the areas discussed is increasing the sortie rates of the 21 aircraft currently in the fleet.
