The European MCM success story: Part 2

Article Abstract:

A European naval expert and also regular contributor to Naval Forces, Captain ITN Massimo Annati highlighted on what the masters of 'brown water' operation have to offer for Mine Countermeasure (MCM) operations. The essentiality of an effective MCM for any littoral operation led in Europe to a proliferation of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), from remotely piloted vessels (RPV) or remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV).

Naval mines: The threat and its counter

Article Abstract:

Naval mines are considered the most serious threat and the most effective anti-access tool, in order to deny access to coastal wasters to a hostile naval force. The threat posed by naval mines to hostile naval forces, the cost effectiveness of the exercise and the effective means of using them against enemies are discussed.

Shallow Tempest 2004

Article Abstract:

The Very Shallow Water (VSW) Seminar Shallow Tempest 2004 has brought together naval mine counter-measures (MCM) experts and port authorities from nine countries at Eugermin Naval MW School. The seminar provided a comprehensive view on the present and the future MCM efforts.
