Marine forces: ready and relevant for the 21st century

Article Abstract:

The Marine Corps is a major force provider in its role in national security and possesses a capability that is not duplicated by any other force. The Corps fields 20% of the nation's ground manuever batallions, 20% of the fighter squadrons and 17% of the attack helicopters. It also provides roughly one-third of all ground combat service support capability in the active establishment. Marine Corps troops maintain a high level of combat readiness and prepared for any mission across a broad range of operations.
