The army chief: The Joint Forces of Czech Republic

Article Abstract:

Major General Josef Sedlak, Joint Forces Commander of Czech Republic discusses and defines the main roles and missions of their forces and comments on current assets and future-oriented procurement programmes. He believes that the aim of the Joint Forces is to ensure forming, training, rotation and disbanding of the task-force grouping intended for accomplishment of tactical or operational tasks on the territory of the Czech Republic or out of it and execution of other tasks provided by law on the territory of the Czech Republic.

'Our entire approach has changed deeply': A conversation with Gen. Pavel Stefka, Chief of General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces

Article Abstract:

The current status and future prospects of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic (ACR) are reflected upon by General Pavel Stefka, Chief of General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces and he is happy to advise that the shift from conscription to volunteer recruitment has not made serving in the professional military forces any less attractive. He comments on the change in the relationship between the civil and military societies of the Republic following the NATO accession, the Kosovo war and the events of 9/11.

NATO is and remains the strongest anchor of our common security

Article Abstract:

The German Chancellor believes in strengthening the European pillar of the Alliance and thereby the Alliance altogether, as NATO remains the strongest anchor of the common European Security. The Federal Government's role in the transformation of the German Armed forces to an operational army and the goals and abilities of German foreign and security policies are discussed.
