The rediscovery of danger

Article Abstract:

Americans were warned of the possibility of terrorists attacks prior to September 11, but did not pay attention because no threat was perceived to their security. A Presidential commission predicted two years ago that large numbers of Americans would die on American soil from a terrorist attack. Other warnings were made, including the Defense Intelligence Agency's forecast last March of an attack over the next 12 to 24 months.

The inter continental ballistic missile (ICBM) mission has been a subject of dispute over the years, between the US Army and Air force, with both laying their claims on it. An account of how the US Air Force obtained control of the ICBM mission is provided.
