The small arms market: an uncertain future

Article Abstract:

The small arms market, including the relevant ammunition, is currently in a commercial stalemate. One of the contributing factors is the entry of the former Warsaw Pact countries such as Russia, Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Poland, into the global market. These countries have introduced highly competitive products and thrive on their advantages of cost/quality ration and large stocks of surplus weapons. The markets for assault rifles and squad weapons, siderarms and sub-machine guns, and sniping weapons are presented.
