Australia cancels ANZAC WIP programme
Article Abstract:
A Warfighting Improvement Programme (WIP) was cancelled by the Royal Australian navy for its eight ANZAC class frigates. Instead, the Australian government will launch a much simpler upgrading of the frigates' anti-ship missile defense as well as a review of several options. The WIP upgrade would have included the eventual conversion of the ANZACs for area defense roles with STANDARD SM-2 missile system.
