Euro armor

Article Abstract:

Militaries in Europe acquiring the newest generation of main battle tanks or upgrading current fleets can choose from four major types offered by domestic manufacturers. These are the Italian Ariete, the British Challenger 2, the French Leclerc and the German Leopard 2. Other than the Leopard 2, only the Leclerc has received a major export order. These European tanks compete for sales against the US' M1A2, Russia's T-80 and Ukraine's T-84.

Y2k-day in Europe

Article Abstract:

Governments of nations across Europe continue to address the computer date transition (Y2K) problem with broadly disparate senses of urgency even as 12:00 MN of Dec 31, 1999 approaches. Y2K preparations by military organizations and defense departments in these countries generally reflect overall national initiatives aimed at solving anticipated problems. A country-by-cuntry review of their Y2K preparations indicates that European military computer infrastructures are generally ready for the year 2000.
