Tribalism in the Al Anbar province: Tribalism is a dynamic that must be understood when dealing with the Iraqi people

Article Abstract:

Tribalism is very evident and influential in the Western Iraqi province of Al Anbar, the Al Qaim region of which is studied to understand the tribal dynamics of the province and in Iraq as a whole, shaped by the importance given to them by the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century, then by the British and by the Ba'ath Party since 1968. The strategy of inclusiveness by the alliance forces in Iraq might lead to tribal cooperation and the enhancement of the local government to function as a nation-state.
