Two centuries of dreadnought

Article Abstract:

A historical perspective of Dreadnought battleship, which was first built at Portsmouth Royal Dockyard and placed into service in 180, is provided. The Dreadnought with its all-big gun armament could effectively engage several contemporary battlewagons at ranges up to 10,000 yards, besides being able to pummel lower-caliber gunned ships from a great distance.

Heroic effort paved way for victory in the battle off Samar

Article Abstract:

The battle for Surigao Strait, fought on 25 October 1944 which ranks as one the most decisive in American naval history rates Samar as one of the most heroic. The findings indicate that 1200 American survivors of the battle of Samar, the Philippines were rescued on 26 October 1944.

Turkey launches its first indigenous coastal minesweeper

Article Abstract:

The first Turkish indigenous coastal minesweeper (MSC), Amasra (M-266) is launched at Istanbul Naval Shipyard. The follow-on units of the Aydin class, M-267 and M-268, are under construction at Istanbul with the final two units of the class, M-269 and M-270, starting in 2005.
