US report sees 10-year window to engage China

Article Abstract:

US government has posed two reports that include the Pentagon's 2004 Annual Report on the Military Power of the People's Republic of China for the US Congress and second based on the US Congress by the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission that addresses the challenge of China's development to US security. These two reports outlines a picture of a China that is growing in significance internationally both economically and militarily, and as such is affecting increasingly on US security concerns.

Beijing moves to restart North Korea nuclear talks

Article Abstract:

The North Korean Government, bowing to the Chinese requests and pressures, announced a halt its nuclear program in early 2004, but refused to come to the negotiation table for discussions on the issue. However, there are fears that the North Koreans are improving their nuclear capabilities and some feel that the North Korean program may be one of the worst proliferations issues, and all eyes are on the Chinese Government to help solve this issue.

Can Beijing influence its 'little brother'?

Article Abstract:

Beijing may have a chance to play a role as go-between in the standoff between Pyongyang and Washington over an alleged nuclear weapons program. Beijing's regional influence would be enhanced also.
