USA adopts financial legislation for counterterrorism

Article Abstract:

The USA is transforming how baking and other financial activities are conducted in the post-11 Sept 2001 with the merging of counterterrorism and the anti-money laundering and banking regime. The International Money Laundering Abatement and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act of 2001 aims to prevent financial institutions from being used as intermediaries for the transfer or deposit of money derived from criminal activity.

China has been accepted into the World Trade Organization, however there are indications that the government is concerned about many problems that may be magnified by the membership. Issues such as unemployment, migration, corruption, and increasing crime are discussed.
