USARPAC: The Army's expeditionary force in the Pacific

Article Abstract:

The strategic importance of the Asia-Pacific region to the US and the reality of its threats combine to create a unique set of opportunities and challenges for the US Army in the Pacific. The 40,000 strong US Army Pacific (USARPAC) soldiers, forming part of the Pacific Command team, serve in strategically important locations across the Pacific, protecting the nation's vital national interests in that region and preparing to meet the challenge of the future.

Off the beaten path

Article Abstract:

Congress established the American Battle Monuments Commission in 1923 with Gen. John. J. Pershin as the first chairman of the commission. The American cemetery has nine thousand three hundred and eighty seven men and women killed during World War II and one thousand five hundred and fifty seven are memorialized in a Garden of the Missing those whose remains were not recovered or could not be identified.
