Updating tradition: Necessary changes to Marine Corps recruit training

Article Abstract:

The modern battlefield requires both mental and physical agility in all ranks, thus requiring every Marine be able to function as a strategic corporal with decision-making skills and critical thinking. Hence, recruit training for Marines must improve from its traditional characteristics, and shift its focus from drill, reevaluate and reposition the Crucible, which is the concluding event of recruit training, and restructure small unit leadership training.
