Ant farm redux: Pyrotechnics and emergence

Article Abstract:

Taking television seriously as an academic object was scandalous in the 1980s, however in 2004 television, as a scholarly pursuit is not at all scorned. It is explained that in the 21st Century television has achieved a scholarly pursuit, just as video are is ubiquitous in contemporary are exhibitions.

Cans and cassettes

Article Abstract:

An editor has a big pile of cans and cassettes of moving pictures that he started editing from 1950. He explains that he started with 8mm movies and switched to 16mm movies and finally to digital movie making, and states that keeps collecting copy of each film he edits.

"MTV aesthetics" at the movies: interrogating a film criticism fallacy

Article Abstract:

The fallacy of American film criticism in using MTV-related expressions to review contemporary movies is discussed. They are used as derogatory terms although MTV has long outgrown its initial gamut of garish music videos.
