Therapeutic discourse and ACOA films of the '80s and '90s

Article Abstract:

Motion pictures in the 1980s and 1990s that portrayed adult children of alcoholics paralleled social self-help movements of that time. Films of the 80s tended to be pessimistic or tentative about the possibilities of healing, while those of the 90s addressed healing more directly.
