360-degree video camera could create bubble of enthusiasm

Article Abstract:

Ipix has unveiled a digital video camera for capturing 360-degree images at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. The images, also called bubble video, can be seen from any angle, providing the viewer a different look each time the video is played. Applications range from the obvious such as 360-degree movies to the less than obvious such as mall security and walk- through real estate tours.

Electronic book not yet as fit as print

Article Abstract:

Electronic books, such as the recently-introduced Softbook, are not yet that good to take the place of paper-printed books. Although electronic books offer amenities like a simple on-screen menu that can be accessed to facilitate easy reading, they still fail to match the thrill of reading paper-bound books. Aside from the expensive price of electronic books, they are also more heavy and bulky that readers would find it uncomfortable to hold for hours on end.

Video transmission without the fiber

Article Abstract:

Lucent Technologies is developing a high-capacity, laser-based data transmission technology that does not use fiber. Instead of sending the packets of data through fiber as in fiber-optic technology, OpticAir sends the transmission through the air. The technology can transmit 20 gigabits per second, around 130 times greater than the best wireless data system that uses radio waves.
