Professional tax preparer H and R Block Inc has launched a $100-million corporate image marketing campaign and outlined other initiatives that are designed to establish it in the public mind as a year-round, financial services provider. The company's core business is in professional tax preparation services, and it intends to exploit its dominance in this market to diversify into sales of mortgages, insurance, investments, banking and financial planning services.

Block upgrades online tax service

Article Abstract:

H and R Block has introduced its 2001 tax season which promises to avoid repeating online blunders in 2000. The firm's tax preparation software at its Web site was out of commission for days at a time which led to mistakenly giving access to the financial data of others. In 2001, H and R Block is employing a re-engineered software and a plan that lets people who do theirr won returns conect with a Block tax professional at any point in the process.

Merger Monday returns: Bank of America, Fleet deal would create No.2 U.S. Bank

California-based Bank of America would acquire FleetBoston for $47 billion, a deal that would create the USA's second-biggest bank corporation on 27th October 2003. The new Bank of America would have 5700 branches and control 9.8 percent of USA's bank deposits.
