Doubts continue to grow about Swiss airline plan

Switzerland is struggling to make a new national air carrier from the salvaged portions of bankrupt Swissair. The government's plan to use Crossair, a regional carrier, to take over Swissair's jetliners and staff is being stalled by union talks, finance problems, and aviation regulations.

Air Canada cuts routes lays off 1,280 workers

Air Canada served 1,280 employees with layoff notices and made cuts in its regional route network. The Canadian Auto Workers union intends to protest the job action to the Canadian Industrial Relations Board.

Royal Bank lands deal to offer services to British Airways fliers

Article Abstract:

Royal Bank of Canada has formed a marketing partnership with British Airways PLC as part of the airline's frequent flyer program. Under the deal, Royal Bank's private banking group will offer a wide range of financial services to British Airways' customers, who will earn frequent flier points as they do their banking. The service will be initially launched to 200,000 frequent fliers in South Africa, the Middle East and the UK.
