A design for the heart

Article Abstract:

Spectral Diagnostics Ltd. of Toronto, Canada, has developed a heart attack test kit called called Cardiac Status. The $30 hand-held device works on the biochemical principle that chemical changes to the proteins in blood occur during a heart attack. Identification of these changes provides the doctors the information which they need to treat heart attacks before irreversible damage occurs. The company is projecting sales of more than two million units in 1999.

Cara to spend $100-million to open 150 new restaurants

Article Abstract:

Cara Operations Ltd will spend $100 million in building 150 new restaurants throughout Canada under its five-year plan which focuses on developing strong brands and market share. Cara, which spent $55 million in building new outlets in 1998, expects the new restaurants to be operational by Mar 2000. The new outlets are intended to revive Cara's Swiss Chalet and Harvey's brands
