A steal of a show

The Aidonia Treasures will be seen for the first time out of Greece when they travel to an exhibition at Melbourne's Hellenic Archaeological Museum. Greece recovered some of the pieces in the exhibition through a legal action, after they were discovered in a New York art auction in 1993. The exhibition will include jewelry of gold and semiprecious stones, seals, beads and pottery.

Melbourne lawyer Max Green's death in Mar 1998 shocked family and friends but the $40 mil legacy of fraud has investigators astonished. Green's double life involved gem trading in Asia, laundering money, and secret commissions related to the CIA. Investigators speculate the cause of Green's death was a result of a disagreement with an accomplice or associate.

Melbourne Australia's Immigration Museum will focus highlight the migration experience of leaving, journeys, arrivals and settlement. The museum will also feature exhibits on why people migrated and its impact on Australia. The museum will feature the story of a Latvian refugee who was allowed to bring her loom from a displaced person's camp in Germany.
