All three branches of the racing industry, horse racing, greyhound racing, and harness racing, in 1998 produced champions never seen before. While many in the racing industry know past champions, the current three champions, Might and Power, Rapid Journey, and Christian Cullen, excited racing fans all over the world and received much attention from the international media.

Rapid Journey won the Australian greyhound racing's Melbourne Cup at Sandown Park in 1998, which earned him a purse of $100,000. Rapid Journey, whose name refers to Carl Lewis, has accomplished more wins than any other greyhound in the world. To date, he has collected $460,995 from 33 wins in 52 race starts.
