A summer slowdown in sales spurs additional efforts by archrivals Pizza Hut and Domino's

Article Abstract:

After slow summer 2000 sales in pizza, the top two fast-food pizza chains, Pizza Hut Inc. and Domino's Pizza Inc., are running dueling TV ads during NBC's coverage of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Domino's ads will continue to showcase the exploits of 'Bad Andy,' a puppet created by Henson Productions and Pizza Hut has spent $40 million on a campaign to introduce its new 'Insider' pizza.
