Amazon, Toys R Us team for online toy store

Article Abstract:

Toys R Us, the No 1 toy chainin the US, will create a joint site with Amazon.com that will feature baby products in spring. The site will be launched in fall 2000 and bear both companies' brand names. Customers can also reach the site through Toysrus.com and amazon.com. Toys R Us will oversee buy and manage inventory, while Amazon will develop the site, fill orders and handle customer service. Buyers will not be able to return products purchased online to Toys R Us' brick-and-mortar stores since Amazon is in charge of them.

Hewlett-Packard in talks to buy tech unit for $18B

Article Abstract:

Hewlett-Packard announced that it is negotiating to acquire the technology consulting practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers for $18 billion in cash and stock. Should it push through, it would establish H-P as a leading player in the technology consulting industry. The deal would benefit PricewaterhouseCoopers since the SEC has been urging accounting firms to divest businesses that could lead to conflicts of interest.
