Kmart embraces change with the Judds

USA Today's weekly poll called Ad Track shows 25% of those who saw the Kmart TV spots featuring Wynonna and Naomi Judd like them a lot. Kmart signed up the mother-and-daughter duo to do a series of concerts and TV advertisements targeting mothers across the US. Ginny Vonckx, executive VP of advertising agency Campbell Mithun Esty, said Kmart was delighted with the public's response to the TV ads. She added that this is exactly what Kmart wanted, to establish a national profile for its Big K stores.

Auto ads for fall sales focus on accessibility, heritage

Article Abstract:

DaimlerChrysler and Mercedes-Benz rolled out a new ad campaign for the fall 1999 selling season. Mercedes adopted 'Engineered Like No Other Car in the World' as theme for its amusing ads, two of which highlight company's employees, who offer buyers with that 'experience.' Daimler- Chrysler's campaign starts on Sep 11, 1999 with a brand ad and ads for individual models. The brand ad provides a glimpse of the new PT Cruiser due in spring 2000.

Prodigy sees comeback in stars

Article Abstract:

Internet service provider Prodigy has launched a new commercial created by TBWA/Chiat Day which features Aretha Franklin and Larry Bird. The commercial depicts what would happened to the two celebrities had they not found their chosen careers. The advertisement capitalizes on the widespread recognition of the Prodigy brand name and avoids attacking its dominant competitor, AOL.
