BellSouth may join rivals in dumping TV business

Article Abstract:

BellSouth has announced that is restructuring its video entertainment unit. The move is expcted to result in a downsizing or deemphasis of the business which has gained 120,000 TV customers in six states since its launching in New Orleans n late 1997. The decision is a sign that consumers might not be able to purchase everything they want from one communications company. It also continues a trend among phone companies that have retreated from plans to deliver TV in bundles of video, voice and data services.
