Research in crisis: the steady erosion of Canada's research capacity has enormous implications for the future

Canada spends just 1.4% of its gross domestic product on research and development, and cuts in university funding are eroding research capabilities. Universities are lobbying the government to invest in research facilities. Some researchers are getting outside funding for their projects.

Fatal rage: in a few terrifying minutes, Vijay Chahal proved just how deadly his anger could be

Article Abstract:

Chahal murdered his estranged wife Rajwar Gakhal and her entire family in Apr 1996, and then committed suicide. Rajwar's family was preparing for the wedding of her sister Balwinder Gakhal, who was also murdered. Vernon's Sikh community is mourning the losses.
