Birth of a union

Article Abstract:

Attempts to organize farmworkers into a union failed during the 1950s because the braceros, who made up a sizable portion of migrant workers were afraid to join unions since their immigration status was temporary and they feared deportation. The changes that took place in the formation of unions since, Cesar Chavez, a former migrant worker and an activist founded the National Farmworkers of America (NFWA) in 1962, are detailed.
