Cosmic chants

Article Abstract:

Carl Orff, the German composer who lived from 1895-1982, was a gifted choral music creator whose ideas on instrumentation, rhythm, and the adaptation of early music presaged such developments as minimalism. Orff is best known for 'Carmina Burana,' but he wrote two fine operas, 'Der Mond' and 'Die Kluge.'
