Article Abstract:
The multiplicity of the causes of eating disorders necessitates the employment of varied approaches to treatment. Not one single therapy has been found to work for all individuals afflicted with eating disorders that a multidisciplinary approach to treament such as psychotherapy, family therapy, cognitive and psychoanalytic therapy have been found to be effective treatment modalities. However, despite the effectiveness of such therapies, the incidence of eating disorders is continually increasing and has affected even such celebrities as Oprah Winfrey, Jane Fonda, Judy Collins and Joan Rivers.

Article Abstract:
Many major food companies have announced that they will not use food irradiation on their products or sell products which have been irradiated because of pressure from groups such as Food and Water and the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility. These companies include food manufacturers, poultry producers, fastfood giants and supermarkets. While opposition towards the new technology mounted, the first irradiation facility in the US was opened at Mulberry, FL. The success or failure of the facility was dependent on which side of the controversy was reporting.
