Defining the seller in on-line market

Article Abstract:

The tremendous growth of the online shopping market has changed the traditional relationship between retailers and suppliers. Some retailers warn manufacturers not to compete with them, while others entice suppliers to sell online through the retailers' Web sites. Manufacturers, on the other hand, try to cooperate with retailers in marketing their own products online by directing traffic to retail stores or selling on specialized products that are not available in retail stores. Online sales are projected to jump from $18 billion in 1998 to $108 billion in 2003.

Petroleum prices put squeeze of manufacturers

Article Abstract:

The US economy is enjoying a period of growth despite the a doubling of the price of crude oil in 1999. It comes as a pleasant surprise to economists and consumers as well, since fears of surging inflation, higher interest rates and recession have remained unfounded. Prices of consumer goods have remained the same even if petroleum prices have risen. Globalization has forced most manufacturers from raising the prices of their products while businesses have learned to consume oil more efficiently.
