Future of Catholic Church: Benedict confounds the Pope-watchers

Article Abstract:

Pope Benedict XVI, nicknamed Panzer, has come out of his image of the stern, inflexible pontiff with the onset of the second anniversary of his papacy in 2007. Pope watchers agree that Benedict's theologian training before he began his 23-year service in the Vatican hierarchy has made him more comfortable in his studies than on the world stage.
